Come on hens, come, come.. many of us feed hens daily or did it during our summer holidays in childhood :)
The orphanage built in Kenya wants to be as self-sufficient as possible. Step by step, we are reaching the moment when we will be sending only funds for children education from the Heart Adoption program. Thanks to the support, they have established yogurt production, some of it goes to children, they sell the rest of the products. They have two dairy goats, and they use the land surrounding their new orphanage for crops. A chance appeared for the children to have permanent access to eggs, and Regina and Steve would have funds for other needs.
Their friend wants to give them 100 young hens. However, chickens require feed for two months to lay their eggs. Unfortunately, there is no budget for it.
So many hens would daily lay circa 2-3 egg trays for selling. One egg tray equals 30 unit eggs. For each of an egg tray, they can get circa KES 500(Kenyan shilling). It is the amount of PLN 18- 20. For three egg trays, it is the daily value of PLN 50.
Monthly profit from eggs: 50 x 30 days = circa PLN 1500.
We need a good feed for the first two months, and then we can feed them simultaneously with fodder and what will be in the prepared paddock. The 70 kg sack of feed costs KES 2980, and they need two of them for a week. All in all, they must purchase 16 packs.
The total project cost is KES 48 680, which equals to PLN 1698 before it will be self-financing. PLN 1698 – this sum means the next step to independence.
If you can support this ambitious project – do not hesitate!
