Sport has long been considered a way to escape poverty and climb the social ladder. It is a path for people from the poorest backgrounds to showcase their talent and demonstrate their worth. For many, sport is an escape from the harsh realities of everyday life and a way to overcome
a dramatically difficult family situation.

However, our approach is directed at all of our charges. For many years, we have been caring for Lakrisha, a student at a school for deaf children. Abandoned first by her mother, then a few years later by her father, who rebuilt his life, she became our permanent charge. The school she attends provides her with exceptional development, not only opening up the world through lessons and learning, knowledge of sign language, and the company
of people with whom she feels comfortable, talks, and spends time, but also by nurturing
her passions.
Lackrisha has been named captain of her school’s basketball team! This is a huge reason
to celebrate, and we hope she is proud of herself! Exercise and sports build strength,
self-discipline, and joy in our children – support them with us!
