After more than six months staying with Regina, the new year 2025 brought the long-awaited and desired changes resulting from John’s therapy. On December 20, during a consultation, he received dedicated orthoses at the hospital in Kijabe to support standing and maintaining balance. On New Year’s Day, he stood on his own for the first time, although still with the support of the orthoses.

Just a few days earlier, he was exercising and walking only with the help of a walker or by leaning on other objects. He was particularly fond of our Rael, and thanks to Regina’s faith and her fight for the health of both children, little John exercised even more eagerly, being able to take care of his favorite girl at home (video below):
Despite the disabilities of some of the children in this exceptional, by African standards, family-style children’s home, we strive to empower them, make them feel needed, and show them appreciation. Each of them has something to share—even if it’s just a few moments together, a few steps taken by John, or a broad smile—like Rael’s ;)
See how John helps Rael, and himself at the same time (video).
