Tomek’s short report (part 2) from his stay in Nepal with the beneficiaries of Adopcja Serca (Heart Adoption)

If you haven’t had the opportunity yet, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the first part of Tomek’s story HERE.

Visit to the school in Dadikhel
Dadikhel is a small village (literally 15 houses) located at an altitude of 2,100 m. Getting to the school is an adventure in itself, because the last section is a steep, bumpy road accessible only to off-road vehicles and motorcycles. The school principal drove us to his facility one by one on his motorcycle. The school is located in an incredibly picturesque place, with a view of the mountains and snow-capped peaks, but the building itself is small and austere, with nothing but a few benches and educational boards on the walls. Currently, only seven students attend this primary school – all of them are under the care of the Foundation.

If it weren’t for the support of adoptive parents from Poland, they probably would not have started their education at all and would never have learned to read and write, which would have greatly determined their fate.

The visit to the school took place in a pleasant atmosphere – the kids were playing in the yard, and the teachers called them one by one for short conversations with us. As was the case at the school in Dakhinkali, when asked what gift they would like to receive, the children expressed very basic desires. Some of them were even embarrassed by the question and needed a moment to answer – perhaps because some of them do not currently have any toys, so it is difficult for them to dream of new ones.

A fun part of our visit was the songs sung individually by the children for us. Samridhi, Kristi, Suhana, Ritu, Rojan, and Sobit showed off their vocal skills. We have recordings :)

The center in Pharping
Activity at the center in Pharping begins around 4:00 p.m. That’s when a dozen or so children arrive for a hot meal prepared daily by a center employee. Afterwards, the kids either do their homework or play.

Several of them did not need much persuasion to show us their dancing and musical skills.
Smarika led the dancing (accompanied by Shushmita and Sajina), and the music band was led by a former ward of the Presika Foundation, who now volunteers in Pharping. Prasamsa, Samrat, and Shisir completed the lineup.
The kids fill this place with a positive atmosphere, and during my stay they approached us with curiosity, checking what we were doing with various documents or working on a laptop.

I am grateful for this worldview-broadening trip, and I returned with even greater faith in aid focused on supporting children’s education. Tomek
